PIX TV+: admin platform for an OTT streaming service
An over-the-top streaming service built on Laravel. We built the web platform, the admin and content-management system, and the mobile apps that viewers watch on.
The brief
PIX TV+ is a streaming service. The part we built is the platform behind it: the administration and content-management system that operators use to run the catalogue, and the API layer the viewing applications consume.
Streaming platforms are mostly invisible work. Viewers see a grid of titles; the operator needs to manage that catalogue, control who can watch what, and keep subscriptions in order.
What we built
Content management
An administration panel for managing the media catalogue — titles, metadata, artwork and availability — so programming can be updated without engineering involvement.
User and subscription handling
Account management and subscription state, which is what determines entitlement to play a given piece of content.
API layer
The platform exposes an API with permissive cross-origin handling so client applications can authenticate and retrieve catalogue data.
Built on Laravel
Running on Laravel with PHP 8.2, session-based administrator authentication and CSRF protection on the panel.
A note on this entry
Unlike the other projects here, PIX TV+ has no public marketing site to link to — the domain serves the operator panel, and viewers reach the service through its applications. We have described the platform rather than a storefront, because that is what the work actually was.
Web platform and viewing apps
We built the whole stack: the Laravel web platform and administration panel, and the mobile applications viewers actually watch on, consuming the same API.
Streaming apps are demanding clients — playback, entitlement checks and catalogue browsing all have to feel instant. Owning both the API and the apps let us shape one around the other instead of working to a fixed contract.
